Introducing Delmont Chiropractor Dr. Steve Marsalese
1963…it was the best of times and the worst of times.
Let me explain. In 1963 my father suffered through a failed low back surgery that he was told would take care of his low back pain. The surgery left my father sleeping in a recliner because he could not lay flat in a bed. For seven years he suffered with the pain left from the surgery until he talked to a friend at my brothers’ football practice. This man cared enough to refer him to a doctor of chiropractic. This chiropractor also had a son on my brothers’ team so it was easy for my father to seek his care. My father went to his office and felt relief after the first treatment. Thankfully my father cared enough to ask him if he could help my brother. My brother had an accident in his earlier years and it left him suffering with migraine headaches. My brother soon found relief from his migraines through chiropractic and decided then as a 12 year old that he was going to be a chiropractor himself!
1963 was also the best of times because that was the year I was born! I entered the world ten pounds four ounces, twenty-four inches long and have been banging my head into things ever since. And through those seven years of my father’s pain I grew enough to start my football career and develop pains of my own. And as my father received care for his low back, my brothers and I also received care for the injuries we took on from our active lifestyles in sports. In fact all through my athletic career I sought chiropractic care. And the great memories of athletic adventures in the back yard with my family included my father thanks to chiropractic!
After I graduated form high school I accepted an athletic scholarship to the Pennsylvania State University. It was there that my brother came to visit me from Chiropractic College, and was talking to me about how much he was enjoying the school. So I decided to start taking some courses designed around the human body, after all I was already immersed in the sciences with my Liberal Arts General Arts and Sciences major. I soon found the same passion my brother had for the science of the human body. Our bodies are truly fearfully and wonderfully made. And since I have always thought of myself as an iconoclast (one who questions tradition) Chiropractic was a natural fit.
I enrolled in Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated in the fall of 1989. Since then I have furthered my education over the years that included getting my Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician degree. I have always been involved with sports so that was a natural fit. I also maintain my clinical skills and knowledge and to stay as up-to-date as possible for my patients, by attending many post-graduate seminars, nationally and state wide. Topics that I have studied are clinical care for neck and low back pain, diagnosis and treatment for headache and migraine, pain management for the auto accident patient, posture examination and treatment, pediatric chiropractic, low level laser therapy, and various physical therapy and Chiropractic techniques. Throughout the year I also attend nutritional conferences sponsored by Metagenics where the latest in research studies are presented.
My overall goal is to help people to improve all aspects of their health through chiropractic care. I want to share and educate people about the wonderful health benefits that can be gained with a nervous system that is working at its best. Every person that comes to me for help receives individual consideration and care. No two people are the same; therefore their care is not the same. I have found that patients who embrace and understand the objective of their chiropractic care receive the best and longest lasting benefits.
I am also very involved in my community through my church Cornerstone Ministries. My wife, Jennifer, and I are members and she is the Director of Children's Ministries. If you are looking for a church I invite you to come visit ours. Just let me know and I’ll save you a seat. You can find out more about it at http://www.cornerstonelive.net/
So when I am not at work or at church you can usually find me doing something outdoors. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: there is hunting season and fishing season, there is golf season and skiing season, there is a time to cut wood and a time to split wood and there is always time to get adjusted. That’s right I walk the talk. I get adjusted on a weekly basis and sometimes more if needed. I have often told my patients that I have already done what I am asking them to do, that way I can better empathize with their situation. That goes for chiropractic and the nutritional protocols that I follow.
